Apna Ghar (Our Home) is a comprehensive domestic violence agency providing culturally appropriate, multi-lingual social services, including shelter, to all victims and survivors of domestic violence, primarily in the South Asian and other immigrant communities. At Apna Ghar, we have served the diverse communities of the Chicago Metropolitan area for almost twenty years.

Sanjeev Kapoor is the most celebrated face of Indian cuisine today. Chef extraordinaire, TV show host, author of best selling cookbooks, restaurant consultant, architect of a unique range of food products and winner of numerous culinary awards, Chef Kapoor is lving his dream of making Indian cuisine the number one cuisiene in the world.
Sanjeev Kapoor hostas the popular Cookery Show on Zee TV which has been winning the ‘Best Cokkery Show’ award given by the Indian Television Academy year after year ever since its inception in the year 2000. The show has completed more than 700 episodes being telecast nonstop for 14 years - the longest running TV show in any category on any channel.

 

Radhika Desai was one of the chefs on Bravo's reality cooking competition, Top Chef 5: New York." Radhika Desai currently works as the Executive Chef at Between Boutique Café & Lounge in Chicago. A first generation Indian American, Radhika Desai was born in Ohio and raised in an eclectic Indian-tradition home. Trained in classic French and Indian cuisine, Radhika Desai has worked alongside notable chef Vikas Khanna and has staged at the Burj Al Arab in Dubai. Radhika Desai has traveled the world over learning new techniques and flavor profiles and brings spice and bold flavors to the table combined with grace and restraint. Radhika Desai's favorite dish to prepare is spicy chicken and potato curry with cumin scented rice with clarified butter and mint. Radhika Desai describes her cooking style as globally eclectic with a huge spoonful of love.

 

Born and raised in Monterey, California, it was only natural that Alpana Singh would develop an interest in wine. The thirty-one year old currently serves as the Director of Wine and Spirits for Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, Inc. Alpana also moonlights as the host of the popular restaurant review television show, “Check, Please!” which airs weekly on WTTW Channel 11. Alpana was born to Indian parents who moved to California from the Fiji Islands. The family owned an ethnic grocery store in Monterey where Alpana worked at an early age; a life experience that she credits for her present day work ethic and ease with people of all ages. After high school graduation, Alpana attended college by day and waited tables by night. It was during this time that she discovered her over for wine and found that it combined her varied interests of geography, history and food. It was one of those life-changing moments when Alpana made the decision to pursue this newfound love as a career. She achieved her goal of becoming a Master Sommelier by passing the final exam in 2003.

 

Allison Rosati is anchor of the award winning NBC 5 News at 5, 6 and 10 p.m. Rosati and co-anchor Warner Saunders have been named best 10 p.m. anchor team by the Illinois Broadcasters Association. They also hold the record for the longest running anchor team at 10 p.m. in Chicago. Allison has been honored with numerous national and local awards for her work on stories, series and specials that impact our communities. The Emmy award winning “Wednesday’s Child” resulted in many adoptions for children looking for forever families. The American Women in Radio and Television recognized her work on the “Smart Choices, Safe Kids” special with a national Gracie Award. The program educated kids andparents about child predators and how to recognize the lures they use. Additionally Rosati received the prestigious Dante Award from the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans an annual award to journalists who are “not a timid friend to truth.” So whether Allison is being honored by the local war veteran’s organization for her support of the troops, or out in the neighborhoods to interview women for the political pulse of our times she is known and applauded for her integrity, passion and commitment! Committed to community service, Rosati volunteers her time to many Chicago-area organizations. She is passionate about giving back and has a special affection for charities that benefit children in need.

 

David A. Goodman, a professional charity auctioneer, is the founder and President of Auction Results. The company’s sole focus is on high-impact Auction Fundraising for 501(c)(3) Charitable Organizations. David has been a professional charity benefit fundraising charity auctioneer and entertainer for over 20 years and has helped raise over $75 million dollars for charity through special events. While based in Chicago, Illinois, David has provided fundraising charity auctioneer services in over 30 states and can be available anywhere throughout the continental United States.
